At first, I liked this subtle design cue. A lot of carmakers have been doing this lately. For example, in the Hilux, it has one on both headlamps, a badge on the door and another on the tailgate. That makes FIVE Hilux labels around the car, making sire you won’t forget what car you are looking at.
What do you think about this?

I’m tempted to write a very long, tedious response where nearly every other word is “RAMBLINROVER” as a joke, but my copy-paste fingers are tired.

It’s neat when one does it, it’s boring and overdone when everybody does. I was parked in front of a previous gen F150 this weekend, saw the headlights said “F150". I thought that detail was neat in the Jeeps, maybe because it didn’t call out the model name and was just the grille/headlight thing. Seeing it on the F150, I wasn’t sure I still felt that way. I thought it’s still fairly unique, but as it gets more and more mainstream, it’s going to get less and less cool.

As car enthusiasts, we often claim that manufactures don’t listen to what we want. Well this is a perfect example of them paying attention to the aftermarket work we do to our cars and incorporating those themes into new designs. For instance, the owners of the cars below will be ecstatic with all the new badges

My mustang has a mustang light on the door mirror. Marketing I can get behind.

So I am looking at a Hilux. Can’t forget. But where the heck are my keys?
